Executive Summary
The research project faces the identification of values that would make a work of modern architecture heritage. The hypothesis is based on assuming that a common thread towards the authenticity of modernity in the Americas could be found in the work of Gilberto Gatto Sobral. The identification of modern values is based on the results of the research project “Modern architecture and heritage. Study of the works of Gilberto Gatto Sobral in Cuenca” (2023-2024, Code 2023-0137); specifically in two. First: that the recognition and appreciation of modernity in Cuenca is possible through construction, since it demonstrates the existing relationship between tradition and avant-garde; second: the documentation and reconstruction of a work is imminent tangible evidence; Therefore, its safeguarding for its knowledge and dissemination contributes to the interpretation of a collective imagination.
