Resumen ejecutivo
The project enhances hydroclimatic decision-making and fosters resilient water management in the Andes through collaboration, local capacity building, and the empowerment of communities. Community-based monitoring using low-cost sensors will measure water resources in a rural irrigation system and monitor climate in an urban area, ensuring active involvement in data collection and decision-making. Climate scenarios and stress tests will identify vulnerabilities and inform resilience strategies in both case studies. The UNESCO-CRIDA framework will guide participatory processes to co-develop practical and locally relevant solutions with stakeholders, including UNESCO Ecuador, a provincial Irrigation Direction, and a municipal water company. Dissemination material and a regional workshop will strengthen the capacities of students, technicians, and decision-makers, enabling the replication of methodologies and tools across the Andean region to address water and climate challenges.
